How an introductory flight works

  1. Ground briefing

At the helicopter you get to know the aircraft, the controls and the instruments.

  2. Preflight and start-up

Together with your instructor you do the preflight check and start-up procedure.

  3. You fly

Thanks to the dual controls you are always in safe hands.

  4. Debrief

Your instructor tells you what the path to your licence looks like.

Frequently asked questions

  • Introductory flight or information day: which do I choose?

If you mainly want to feel what flying is like, choose a 30 or 60-minute introductory flight. If you are seriously considering a licence, an information day gives you both: we explain the whole training path and you fly an R44 yourself for 20 minutes, with 20 minutes of sightseeing on top. Prefer to listen first? Come to a free information evening.

  • What does an introductory flight during an information day involve?

Each session begins with a detailed 30-minute briefing on helicopter controls and operation. You will then take part in a 40-minute helicopter flight led by a professional Toran instructor, during which you will have the opportunity to fly the helicopter (Robinson R44) yourself for 20 minutes. For the remainder of the flight, you’ll enjoy the stunning views as a passenger.

  • Is flying a helicopter difficult?

It takes practice, not superhuman talent. During the training you learn every skill step by step: from handling and navigation to emergency procedures and airmanship. Not sure? Book a 30-minute introductory flight: you fly yourself, with an instructor beside you.

  • Why choose the Cabri G2?

The Cabri G2 is our modern, agile two-seater: compact, precise and surprisingly stable. Thanks to the full glass cockpit and excellent visibility, every flight feels intuitive and clear. As a relative of the Airbus helicopter family, this aircraft was developed with a strong focus on safety and training quality. Perfect for anyone who wants to fly themselves — the Cabri is the “big” little helicopter that lets you feel every movement. With the Cabri G2 it is not possible to take a passenger along during the introductory flight.

The Cabri G2 is the perfect training aircraft.

  • Why choose the Robinson R44?

The Robinson R44 is an iconic, four-seat helicopter and the global market leader in its class. Larger, more powerful and designed for passenger transport, this aircraft offers both comfort and performance. Ideal for anyone who wants to fly with more space, bring a passenger along or who is looking for an aircraft that closely matches commercial helicopter operations. With the R44 you enjoy a mature, versatile flying experience.

  • Are there weight or height limits for passengers?

Yes, for safety reasons both weight and height limits apply to our passengers:

    • Weight: a minimum of 30 kg and a maximum of 135 kg per passenger.
    • Height: a minimum of 100 cm and a maximum of 200 cm.

These limits are necessary to guarantee a safe and comfortable flight, and to ensure that passengers fit properly in the seats and safety belts. If in doubt, we recommend contacting us in advance.
