Flights

  • How much does a helicopter flight cost?

A heli tour on a fixed route costs from € 495 (Flemish Ardennes, Castles, Battlefield). The Ghent tour, Bruges + East Coast and West Coast cost € 885. A tailor-made dream flight starts at € 495. Flying yourself costs from € 425 for 30 minutes or € 795 for 60 minutes. Air taxi and group joyrides: on quotation. Prices are per flight, not per person.

  • Is the price per person or per flight?

The price is per flight. A maximum of 3 passengers may fly per flight.

  • How many people can fly on each flight?

Our helicopters can accommodate up to 3 passengers per flight. This makes it an ideal experience to share with friends, family, or colleagues. Would you like to fly with a larger group? In that case, we can schedule multiple flights in succession or arrange for additional helicopters.

  • How far in advance should I book a flight?

To ensure a smooth booking process, we recommend booking your flight at least 2 weeks in advance.

Would you still like to fly sooner? We try to be flexible—just contact us, and we’ll work with you to see what’s possible.

  • What are the cancellation conditions?

    • Up to 7 days before the flight: reschedule to another date free of charge.
    • Up to 4 hours before departure: cancel or reschedule free of charge with a valid medical reason and a doctor's certificate.
    • In these cases, the flight can also be converted into a voucher to the value of the amount booked.
    • When booking, you can take out cancellation insurance. With this insurance you can cancel the flight at any time and receive a full refund of the flight amount.
  • What happens if the flight cannot go ahead due to bad weather?

The safety of our passengers and crew always comes first. If weather conditions do not allow for safe flying, the flight will be postponed to another date in consultation with you. The flight can also be converted into a voucher if needed. In no case will you lose the amount paid, provided the flight is carried out within 2 years of booking.

  • Are there any age or health restrictions?

To take a helicopter flight, you must be in generally good health. There are no specific medical requirements for passengers, but you should feel comfortable with the idea of flying.

    • Passengers with disabilities
      • Passengers with physical disabilities can board with the help of one of our crew members.
      • Passengers with intellectual disabilities are equally welcome, although they are required to be seated in the back.
    • Children
      • Children are welcome from 1 metre tall and 30 kg in body weight.
      • They must always be accompanied by an adult.
  • Are there weight or height limits for passengers?

Yes, for safety reasons both weight and height limits apply to our passengers:

    • Weight: a minimum of 30 kg and a maximum of 135 kg per passenger.
    • Height: a minimum of 100 cm and a maximum of 200 cm.

These limits are necessary to guarantee a safe and comfortable flight, and to ensure that passengers fit properly in the seats and safety belts. If in doubt, we recommend contacting us in advance.

  • Is there another departure location and/or final destination available?

Yes, this is possible. We typically depart from and arrive at our regular locations, but we can arrange for different departure points or destinations upon request. Please contact us well in advance so that we can discuss the practical feasibility and any additional costs with you.

  • Can I suggest a personalized flight itinerary?

In addition to our regular routes, you can of course customize your own flight path. For example, if you’d like to fly over your neighborhood, your hometown, or another specific area, that’s possible. Just let us know your preferences, and we’ll do our very best to make it happen. Please keep in mind that the final route depends on weather conditions and aviation regulations.

Gift vouchers

  • How do I give a helicopter flight as a gift?

Choose a gift voucher for any amount from € 50: the recipient picks the flight. Or give a specific flight right away: a heli tour from € 495, or flying yourself with an instructor from € 425. A voucher is valid for one year.

  • Can I give a “fly yourself” experience as a gift?

Yes. With the Fly yourself voucher (from € 425) the recipient takes the controls and flies together with an instructor.

  • How does a digital gift card work?

When ordering a digital gift card, you can choose to have it sent to yourself or directly to the recipient.

    • Option 1: Send to yourself

If you choose to have the gift card sent to yourself, you will receive an email with a PDF attachment. You can print this and hand it to the recipient in person.

The gift card contains a QR code that can be scanned with a smartphone. This code leads to a unique webpage where the gift card details are visible and the code can be easily copied. With this code, the recipient can order the full range of flights on the webshop.

    • Option 2: Send directly to the recipient

If you choose to send the gift card directly to the recipient, they will receive an email with a link to the same webpage containing all the gift card details. The PDF with the QR code is also included in case they wish to print it.

  • What is the delivery time for a physical gift voucher?

We recommend ordering physical gift vouchers at least 4 days in advance. This allows enough time for any delivery delays.

To make sure your gift voucher is always available on time, you will also receive an email with a digital version after placing your order. This email contains a PDF with a QR code. By scanning the QR code, you can view the details of the gift voucher and, if needed, use or share it straight away.

  • How long is a gift card valid?

A gift certificate is valid for 1 year from the date of purchase. During this period, the certificate can be used for the entire range of flights available on our website.

Training

  • How do I become a helicopter pilot?

You start with the helicopter licence (officially: PPL(H)). The training combines theory lessons with at least 45 flight hours and ends with a practical exam. Minimum age: 16 to fly solo, 17 for your practical exam, plus a class 2 medical. To become a professional pilot, you then continue with the professional licence (CPL(H)).

  • How long does helicopter training take?

About a year on average. Standard track: 10 months, one 3-hour lesson a week. Intensive track: 4 months, 1 to 5 times a week. Distance learning: at your own pace, once a month. The minimum is 45 flight hours.

  • How much does a helicopter licence cost?

That depends on your pace, the aircraft you fly (Cabri G2 or R44) and how many flight hours you need (at least 45). On top of that come registration, theory lessons, the medical and the exams. Get in touch or come to a free information evening and we will work out a personal estimate together.

  • Is flying a helicopter difficult?

It takes practice, not superhuman talent. During the training you learn every skill step by step: from handling and navigation to emergency procedures and airmanship. Not sure? Book a 30-minute introductory flight: you fly yourself, with an instructor beside you.

  • Where does Toran Academy teach?

From five locations: Kortrijk-Wevelgem, Antwerp, Sint-Truiden, Knokke and Lille.

  • Introductory flight or information day: which do I choose?

If you mainly want to feel what flying is like, choose a 30 or 60-minute introductory flight. If you are seriously considering a licence, an information day gives you both: we explain the whole training path and you fly an R44 yourself for 20 minutes, with 20 minutes of sightseeing on top. Prefer to listen first? Come to a free information evening.

  • What does an introductory flight during an information day involve?

Each session begins with a detailed 30-minute briefing on helicopter controls and operation. You will then take part in a 40-minute helicopter flight led by a professional Toran instructor, during which you will have the opportunity to fly the helicopter (Robinson R44) yourself for 20 minutes. For the remainder of the flight, you’ll enjoy the stunning views as a passenger.

  • Where can I fly with my licence?

With an EASA PPL(H) you fly at home and abroad in European-registered helicopters, with or without passengers, in good weather (VMC). Think of a trip abroad, a quick business journey or landing at home. You may not carry passengers for payment; that requires a CPL(H).

  • Where do I take the theory exams?

At the DGLV in Brussels (in Dutch or French), at the CBR in the Netherlands (Dutch) or at Austro Control in Antwerp (English). You need at least 75% per subject and have four attempts per subject. You also need an English Language Proficiency test (ELP): level 4 is valid for 4 years, level 5 for six years and level 6 for life.

  • Can I become a professional pilot at Toran?

Not directly. You take the CPL(H) and ATPL(H) at one of our international partner schools, with whom we work closely. Toran remains your point of contact: from advice and preparation to follow-up and career guidance after the training. You build your PPL(H) and the hours after it with us.

Business

  • How do I request a quote?

Through the contact form or by phone on +32 56 444 000. Tell us what you need, where and when, and we will come back with a proposal and a price.

  • How far in advance should I book?

The earlier the better, but for a business flight we are happy to look at short notice too. For joyrides at an event we need at least two months, because a temporary heliport has to be requested.

  • Can you land at our own site?

Often, yes. For a landing outside an airport we request a temporary heliport from the aviation authority. We handle that; you just give us the location.

  • How much does a business flight cost?

It depends on the distance, the aircraft, the waiting time on site and landing fees. The air taxi tool gives you an indicative price right away; for flights with several stops we prepare a quote.

  • Can I bring luggage?

Yes. Weight is part of every helicopter flight plan, so tell us what you bring when you book and we will take it into account when choosing the aircraft.

The Birds

  • How many people fit in the helicopter?

That depends on the Bird. The Guimbal Cabri G2 is our compact two-seater: pilot plus one. The Robinson R44 carries three passengers besides the pilot, the Bell 206 and Bell 505 four each. On a heli tour or joyride, up to three passengers fly along.

  • How fast does a helicopter fly?

Our Robinson R44 cruises at about 110 knots, around 200 km/h. With a strong 30-knot headwind that drops to about 80 knots or 145 km/h.

  • How far can a helicopter fly?

In theory a Robinson R44 covers about 600 km non-stop, with a maximum endurance of about 3 hours. With a strong headwind that becomes more like 450 km, fully loaded in bad weather 400 km or less. The tank holds about 190 litres, consumption is around 57 litres per hour, and there is always at least 20 minutes of reserve fuel.

  • Why choose the Cabri G2?

The Cabri G2 is our modern, agile two-seater: compact, precise and surprisingly stable. Thanks to the full glass cockpit and excellent visibility, every flight feels intuitive and clear. As a relative of the Airbus helicopter family, this aircraft was developed with a strong focus on safety and training quality. Perfect for anyone who wants to fly themselves — the Cabri is the “big” little helicopter that lets you feel every movement. With the Cabri G2 it is not possible to take a passenger along during the introductory flight.

The Cabri G2 is the perfect training aircraft.

  • Why choose the Robinson R44?

The Robinson R44 is an iconic, four-seat helicopter and the global market leader in its class. Larger, more powerful and designed for passenger transport, this aircraft offers both comfort and performance. Ideal for anyone who wants to fly with more space, bring a passenger along or who is looking for an aircraft that closely matches commercial helicopter operations. With the R44 you enjoy a mature, versatile flying experience.
