Our Birds

At Toran, helicopters are called Birds. Each aircraft carries the Latin name of a tern: the migratory bird that flies further than any other bird, from pole to pole, year after year.

Agile, light and tireless: exactly what we expect from a helicopter. Meet the fleet.

Training birds: Cabri G2 and R44

The Cabri G2 is a modern two-seater with a glass cockpit, related to the Airbus helicopter family and designed around safety and training. You feel every movement: ideal for learning to fly. You cannot take a passenger on an introductory flight.

The Robinson R44 is a four-seat helicopter and the world market leader in its class. Bigger and more powerful, built for passengers, and closer to commercial operations. It cruises at about 200 km/h and flies around 3 hours on a 190-litre tank.

Travelling birds: Bell 206 and Bell 505

With room for four passengers besides the pilot, the Bells are our Birds for business travel, air taxi and flights with more passengers. The Bell 206 is the classic with an iconic reputation; the Bell 505 its modern, streamlined successor.

For the tech-minded

  • How fast does a helicopter fly?

Our Robinson R44 cruises at about 110 knots, around 200 km/h. With a strong 30-knot headwind that drops to about 80 knots or 145 km/h.

  • How far can a helicopter fly?

In theory a Robinson R44 covers about 600 km non-stop, with a maximum endurance of about 3 hours. With a strong headwind that becomes more like 450 km, fully loaded in bad weather 400 km or less. The tank holds about 190 litres, consumption is around 57 litres per hour, and there is always at least 20 minutes of reserve fuel.

  • How many people fit in the helicopter?

That depends on the Bird. The Guimbal Cabri G2 is our compact two-seater: pilot plus one. The Robinson R44 carries three passengers besides the pilot, the Bell 206 and Bell 505 four each. On a heli tour or joyride, up to three passengers fly along.

  • Why choose the Cabri G2?

The Cabri G2 is our modern, agile two-seater: compact, precise and surprisingly stable. Thanks to the full glass cockpit and excellent visibility, every flight feels intuitive and clear. As a relative of the Airbus helicopter family, this aircraft was developed with a strong focus on safety and training quality. Perfect for anyone who wants to fly themselves — the Cabri is the “big” little helicopter that lets you feel every movement. With the Cabri G2 it is not possible to take a passenger along during the introductory flight.

The Cabri G2 is the perfect training aircraft.

  • Why choose the Robinson R44?

The Robinson R44 is an iconic, four-seat helicopter and the global market leader in its class. Larger, more powerful and designed for passenger transport, this aircraft offers both comfort and performance. Ideal for anyone who wants to fly with more space, bring a passenger along or who is looking for an aircraft that closely matches commercial helicopter operations. With the R44 you enjoy a mature, versatile flying experience.
